This is a chapter that absolutely has to be discussed. The movements introduced in this article played a crucial role in the development history of the replica watch industry. You could even say that these movements were what truly pushed replica watches into the super clone era.
DD4130
The first movement is the DD4130. It was originally developed by a movement manufacturer as early as 2015, and was later introduced into the replica watch industry by Noob Factory around 2018. After Noob shut down, Clean Factory took over this movement. Later, the movement became openly available, and many major factories were able to source it instead of it being exclusive to a single manufacturer.
The DD4130 was built based on the structure of the genuine Rolex 4130 caliber. It features a vertical clutch chronograph structure, a column wheel design, and low-beat running seconds logic.
Before the DD4130 entered the replica watch market, Daytona replicas mainly used the Asian 7750 movement. That movement had three major flaws: the chronograph seconds hand would stutter, the movement thickness was too high, and the overall stability was average. After replica Daytonas began using the DD4130, all three of these problems were largely solved.
DD4131
The second movement is the DD4131. In 2024, VS Factory became the first to use this movement in the new 12xxxx series Daytona models, and later BT Factory also gained access to it. Just like the DD4130 mentioned above, “DD” simply refers to the movement manufacturer. Starting from 2025, this movement began to be widely used in new-generation Daytona replicas.
Unlike the DD4130, the DD4131 features optimized details on the rotor and plates, making it look much closer to the genuine Rolex 4131 movement.
Among super clone Daytonas, there are currently two different 4131 movements from two separate movement manufacturers: the SH4131 and the DD4131. The main difference between them lies in the finishing of the movement plates. The SH4131 has a slightly darker finishing, while the DD4131 has better bevel polishing, cleaner vertical brushing, and more refined engravings.
DD3235
The third movement is the 3235. In the history of super clone Rolex development, this movement is far more important than the 4131 and 3285. The 3235 was the key movement that allowed VS Factory to enter the top tier of the high-end replica Rolex market. Before the 3235 era, the factories that truly dominated Rolex replicas were Noob and AR Factory. Later, VS rose into the top tier largely because of the DD3235 and DD3135 movements.
The DD3235 was the first clone movement on the market to achieve a structure close to the genuine Rolex 3235 caliber. It offered around 70 hours of power reserve, a rotor structure closer to the genuine movement, and date-changing mechanics that more closely matched the original 3235. This movement was widely used by VS Factory in Rolex super clones starting in 2021.
DD3285
The fourth movement is the DD3285. This movement entered the testing stage at the end of 2022, and in 2023 it was officially introduced by Clean Factory in their Rolex GMT-Master II replicas. Before the DD3285 appeared, many so-called “3285” movements on the market were actually older 3186 movements with modified plates.
The DD3285 features a true GMT structure, around 70 hours of power reserve, and a hand-setting direction similar to the genuine Rolex 3285. At first, this movement was exclusively used by Clean Factory, but later VS Factory also adopted it. Models using this movement include the famous Pepsi GMT, Batman GMT, and Root Beer GMT.
